While the steps in the Toulmin method are clear, it is not always so in everything that is written or read. Some steps from his method may be missing if the author is not certain to follow that particular style of writing in their essay. this is what I what was able to identify in the essay/article that I chose. As far as a claim in the study by Skelton et al., the objective of the study would represent that part of the argument. It basically states that the objective is to determine how the definitions for obesity have affected children and adolescents and has increased over time using 2007 standards. (Skelton et al.)The methods of the research study would fall under the support category of Toulmin. The researchers needed to set out a method by with the could test the claim in the article, therefore providing support to their argument. The results of the study would then be considered the warrant of the argument. This step works to justify the claim based upon the support or method of the study. In the conclusion I was able to identify a qualifier in this particular study which states, ”This places demands on the health care and community services, especially because the highest rates are among children who are frequently under served by the health care system.” (Skelton et al.) The word that sets this up as a qualifier is especially, with the qualifier itself being the phrase that follows.  Works CitedSkelton, Joseph A., M.D., et al. ”Prevalence and Trends of Severe Obesity among US Children
